It’s Been a While

My last post is less than 2 weeks shy of a year ago. Insane how fast time goes by. I spent 2015  traveling and doing a lot of soul searching. I continued to shoot and had an amazingly successful year considering how  often I was away. I’ll be busy posting over the next few weeks with photos from my travels/lessons learned as well as work. I’ll leave these photos of one of my recent little muses, Haley.

More to come…

The Parkers

It has been WAY too long since I last blogged. I’m happy to report that it has been due to the fact that I have been so busy! So many amazing individuals, couples, families, BABYS and just amazing adventures have happened since October. I will be posting a ton trying to catch up! But first I’d like to start with this blog. Lets go about 4-5 months back when I did an engagement session for the soon to be Parkers.

This weekend, March 7, 2015, I will be shooting my first wedding of the year! I am so excited to see these two, and their little man, walk down the isle!! Let me introduce you to the soon to be Mr. and Mrs. Parker!Parkers01

Mystery Baby!

It is so rare to hear of first time parents who are waiting till the birth of their child to see if it is a boy or a girl! Well that is just what Jackie and Mario did!! I shot their maternity photos where they had to bring both boy shoes and girl shoes! Jackie was absolutely glowing!! I asked her if her outfit choice of a pink dress was an indication of what she thought she was having. She said it wasn’t that she had no idea what to expect! It was another beautiful afternoon in Southern California as these two high school sweethearts smiled lovingly at each other during their shoot. Enjoy!!JM01JM02JM03JM04JM05JM06JM07JM08JM09JM10JM11JM12JM13JM14Weeks later I got a call at 6:36am that the mystery baby was on its way!! I went down to the hospital to capture some moments from this very special day!! JM16JM17JM18JM20JM21JM22Mystery baby was DEFINITELY coming into this world on a beautiful day!JM19JM30JM23Then it was time for the mystery to be over!!! What would it be?? A boy or a girl?? Ladies and gent’s, we have ourselves…JM24JM25JM26JM31JM28JM29The first hours are a very special time. I couldn’t keep a smile off of my face as they gazed so lovingly on their newborn daughter. They couldn’t take their eyes off of her, it was literally as if I wasn’t even there. Congratulations Jackie and Mario on your beautiful healthy baby girl. And good luck, when I asked Mario how fatherhood felt he replied,

“I am in so much trouble, I love her so much already.”

Another beautiful girl is on her way!! I have known Nicole since childhood and its beautiful to see her at this stage in her life. We decided to shoot the images on a trail that Kevin and Nicole used while training for marathons! Now they are preparing for an infinite marathon called parenthood. International Lovers Part 2

If you’ve been following my blog, you may remember that one of my first posts were of this amazing couple! Cristy and Ted met in San Diego, they began a relationship that would have them both traveling thousands of miles all around the world. Ted is from Sweden and Cristy made the move to be at his side in February of 2013. Since then they have traveled all over Europe exploring many beautiful places.

On New Years Eve, Ted proposed to Cristy while they were vacationing on the Swiss Alps. Could he be more romantic?? She of course said yes and the wedding planning began! I made my way across the Atlantic to Sweden in July. I wanted to see where she had been living and meet Ted’s family and their friends who would be joining us for the wedding in the states. Let me just say it now, Sweden is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. There were so many places we wanted to shoot around his hometown of Halmstad but we ran short on time. We still were able to capture some beautiful shots around the home he grew up in. I cannot wait for the wedding!! But until then, here are some shots from their engagement session! Enjoy!!CT01CT02In Sweden it is customary for men to wear rings as well when they become engaged. I think America should adopt this tradition.CT03CT04CT05CT06CT07CT08CT09And yes, I made Cristy hike up to this point in her dress so we could catch the amazing sunset…CT10CT11CT12

Lori Gilbert Art

Well… it has been nearly two months since I have written a blog post. I have been super busy traveling and getting all sorts of great shots. Before my travels began I had the honor of doing some head shots/fun shots for Miss Lori Gilbert. Not only is she a beautiful girl with a beautiful soul, she is an amazingly talented artist as well. She has a lot of BIG things coming up for her and she needed some new portrait shots taken. We of course played around and took some fun ones! It was a crazy busy day for both of us but we managed to get these shots done!! I have thrown in some of her paintings so you can see with your own eyes the crazy talent this gorgeous woman has!!  I enjoy stalking her FB page as she takes you on her painting journey and even shares the prgression of her art. If you like what you see here, be sure to check out her Facebook page! Its under the same title as this blog post, Lori Gilbert Art:  http://www.facebook.com/Lori.Gilbert.ArtLori02Lori01Lori03

Something Different…

Goodness I haven’t posted a blog in nearly a month!! The last 22 days have been filled with many shoots and a wedding!! (I was a bridesmaid not the bride.). Looking through past blogs my work has been mostly centered on children, family and maternity. But this shoot was something completely different. Kathryn and I spoke for about an hour leading up to our shoot. I slowly applied her makeup between champagne sips. She has been photographed a lot before for yoga and dance but wanted something different. She was giving me complete artistic freedom and allowing me to do whatever I wanted. What I wanted was something dramatic and with feeling and boy did she deliver! The beauty she possesses not just on the outside but on the inside are so strongly captured in these images. Some of the following photo’s take a darker turn than you may be used to seeing on my blog, but I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. KM01km02KM03KM00KM04KM05Her favorite, below. KM06KM07KM11KM12And because she has a beautiful smile as well…KM13KM14My favorite.KM08KM15The quote that came to mind when shooting this image:                                                        “Every heartache ends, just as every storm runs out of rain.”KM16KM18Thank you for this shoot.
